Russian ambassador to Uzbekistan has been replaced

Alexei Yerkhov replaced Oleg Malginov.

Vladimir Putin issued a decree relieving Oleg Malginov of his duties as Russia’s ambassador to Uzbekistan.

Malginov has been serving as an ambassador since 2021. Yerkhov Alexei Vladimirovich has been appointed to his position. Before this, Aleksei Yerkhov led the Russian diplomatic mission in Turkey from 2017.

In February 2020, the ambassador repeatedly stated that threats were being made against him in this country. On 11 June 2025, he announced the conclusion of his work in Turkey, which had lasted a total of 14 years.

Remember that the Russian Ambassador was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan after Prilepin’s remarks about the republic joining the Russian Federation. Oleg Malginov reported on the statement made by the Russian figure.

It’s worth recalling that several political figures in Uzbekistan responded to Zakhar Prilepin’s words at once. The most vivid reaction was expressed by the advisor to the Minister of Ecology, Rasul Kusherbayev, who suggested that everyone who wants to conquer Uzbekistan should “go to p**”.
