Since the beginning of 2025, nearly 2,000 people have been convicted of corruption crimes in Uzbekistan, according to the Prosecutor General’s Office.
According to the information, 184 people were convicted in the period from January to November 2025 under Article 210 (Bribery). At the same time, 114 of them were sentenced to imprisonment, and another 70 received sentences not related to imprisonment. It is noted that during the same period in 2024, 196 people were convicted under this article: 135 of them were also sentenced to imprisonment, and 61 received other punishments.
Furthermore, 1801 people have been held accountable since the beginning of the year under Article 211 (Giving a bribe). Of these, 465 received sentences related to imprisonment, and 1,336 received other types of punishment. During the same period in 2024, law enforcement officers initiated cases against 1,91 people under this article: 651 of them were sentenced to imprisonment, and 1,340 to non-custodial sentences.
Earlier, it was reported that two senior tax inspector officers were caught taking a bribe in Tashkent. The inspectors demanded money from the businessman to avoid fining him for tax violations.
