Uzbekistan is considering reducing electricity tariffs for residents of houses equipped with electric stoves instead of gas stoves, according to the press service of the Ministry of Energy.

According to the information, the new tariffs will affect apartment buildings and dormitories not connected to gas pipelines and equipped with electric heating instead of central heating. Discounts will also affect household consumers in non-gazified areas who do not receive liquefied gas or coal at subsidized prices.

In particular, with a consumption of up to 2000 kWh during the heating season, such subscribers will be able to pay 50% lower than the current tariff for household consumers. At the same time, during the rest of the year, the monthly limit for reduced prices will be 1000 kWh. Thus, during the heating season, the tariffs will be as follows:

  • from 600 to 300 soums for the first 200 kWh;
  • from 800 to 400 soums for 201-500 kWh;
  • from 1000 to 500 soums per 501-1000 kWh;
  • from 1500 to 750 soums per 1001-2000 kWh.

At the same time, outside the heating season:

  • 600 soums instead of 300 soums for up to 200 kWh;
  • 400 soums instead of 800 soums for 201-500 kWh;
  • 500 soums instead of 1000 for 501-1000 kWh.

It is noted that the changes have already passed preliminary interdepartmental coordination. Currently, specialists are conducting a technical audit of the power grids to determine if they can handle the additional load. In addition, employees of the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, “Uzenergoinspeksiya”, “Regional Electric Networks” and “Hududgaztaminot” are conducting additional analysis. It is planned that based on the results of the inspections, specialists will draw up a final conclusion, on the basis of which the responsible state bodies will make a decision on the implementation of the initiative.

The department emphasized that the new measures should help improve the culture of energy consumption in Uzbekistan. The Ministry also reported that in the new apartment buildings, it is planned to fully electrify cooking and heating systems, thereby replacing traditional energy sources with renewable ones to ensure the efficient use of limited resources, based on the experience of foreign countries.

Earlier, it was reported that a system for storing electricity will appear in Tashkent. The technology will allow collecting electricity and redirecting it for further use.
