Termez plans to implement an electronic payment system in public transport starting in 2026, according to the Transport Ministry’s press service.
According to the information, the authorities plan to implement the project to increase the comfort and convenience of passengers. In this regard, the authorities intend to gradually implement a system of electronic payments in public transport in the city. In particular, the fare on buses will be 3,000 soums, and with electronic payment — 2,000 soums. For children under 7 years old, the fare remains free, and for luggage weighing more than 20 kg, you will have to pay an additional 4,000 soums.
The project for the implementation of power will be divided into 2 stages. Within the framework of the first, starting from January 3, 2026, it is planned to launch the electronic payment system on routes B-3, B-4, B-7, SHI-1, SHI-3, SHI-5, SHI-7, SHI-8, SHI-15. Furthermore, within the framework of the 2nd stage, which will begin on April 1, 2026, payment for travel on these routes will be made exclusively electronically.
Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan had begun to ban cash. The list of transactions and payments will be allowed to be carried out only by cashless payment.
