In Surkhandarya, a deputy governor who compelled people to pick cotton was fined

The official was sentenced to the minimum penalty under the article.

The deputy khokim for women’s affairs in Sariosiyo district, Surkhandarya region, Dilfuza Toshmatova, demanded that mahalla activists bring five people to the field and insulted those who refused, calling them “dishonest. She was fined 50 BCV. This was reported by the Ministry of Employment.

The department conducted an investigation and confirmed the fact of the incident. The official was fined 50 BCV in accordance with Article 51, Part 1 of the Administrative Responsibility Code. It’s worth noting that this is the minimum punishment stipulated by law.

Forced labor is prohibited under Article 5 of the Labor Code. Also, this act may result in a fine of 50 to 100 BCV according to Article 51, Part 1 of the Administrative Responsibility Code, — the statement said.

Citizens were also reminded of the possibility of contacting the hotline 1176 or (71) -200-06-00 and were promised confidentiality.

Earlier, it was reported that Dilfuza Toshmatova was forcing mahalla activists to participate in the cotton harvest. According to her, each activist is obligated to bring out five people so that 150 people “manage the field at once”.

The norm is five people. Tomorrow 150 people must completely clear the field. The farmer should run away from us and no longer invite us, and for this we need more people, Toshmatova stated, according to the materials received by the publication.

She also addressed the activists sharply:

Come early and fulfill the quota – we’ll leave early. Why is there still no one?! Are you a woman or not, shameless woman? Unconscionable! If you’ve come — come here quickly, if you don’t want to work — get out!

The deputy khokim also said that those who want to leave can write an application and leave their job without unnecessary talk. Otherwise, according to her, it is necessary to fulfill the assigned task.

The National Commission on Combating Human Trafficking and Forced Labour has responded to the situation. Responsible authorities reported that the situation was immediately investigated and promised to provide a legal assessment of the perpetrators’ actions.
