Emergency at construction site in Karshi: metal beam crushes child
The girl died immediately.
On 26 August, a tragedy took place near the “Orzu” food market in Qarshi, close to the ongoing construction of the “Oqtepa” residential complex, reports Qalampir.
A metal beam of construction timber fell from the height of the 10th floor and crashed directly onto the head of a girl born in 2013, who died on the spot from severe injuries to her head and spine.
A forensic medical examination has been ordered to clarify all details of the incident. Law enforcement officers are conducting a pre-trial investigation. The main version of the incident’s cause is a violation of labour protection rules.
According to safety regulations, fences, protective nets, and safety measures must be installed at the construction site to prevent metal structures from falling on people. The Criminal Code stipulates punishment of up to 5 years of imprisonment under Article 257, Part 2 (Violation of labour protection rules resulting in human death).
