Uzbekistan plans to increase the share of environmentally friendly building materials in 2026

The authorities were also instructed to implement a number of projects for the deep processing of kaolin worth more than $500 million.

In Uzbekistan, the share of energy-efficient and environmentally friendly materials in construction work is planned to reach 25% in 2026, and 35% by 2030, according to a presidential meeting on the development of the construction materials industry.

During the discussion, the issues of effective use of kaolin reserves were considered. It was noted that despite the presence of over 1 billion tons of kaolin deposits in the country, many millions of dollars worth of porcelain are imported annually. In this regard, in 2026, it is planned to implement 40 projects for the deep processing of kaolin with a total value of $515 million and to train 460 specialized specialists.

In the field of energy efficiency in the industry, it was emphasized that the energy audit conducted to date at 34 enterprises has reduced fuel consumption for production. In this regard, responsible officials were tasked with systematically continuing this work, expanding the range of energy-saving products, and increasing the share of energy-efficient and environmentally friendly materials in construction work to 25% in 2026, and to 35% by 2030.

The importance of science in improving the quality and safety of products, as well as the need to make wider use of the potential of domestic scientists, was emphasized. In particular, 4 scientific projects are being implemented in this direction jointly with the Tashkent Chemical-Technological Institute. For this, scientists from Germany, Korea, and Turkey have been attracted.

As part of strengthening the integration of science and practice, starting next year, 30 billion soums will be allocated to finance scientific projects in the field of construction materials. It was emphasized that by widely implementing digital management and artificial intelligence technologies in enterprises, it is possible to reduce the cost of production by 5-10%.

To increase the number of enterprises implementing such systems, it is planned to allocate 100 billion soums within two years. In the process of joining the WTO, countries are also adapting the construction materials industry to international requirements. Thus, over the past period, 125 international standards have been adopted, and by 2026, their number is planned to reach 166.

Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan could increase exports of 9 types of construction products to 26 countries. Responsible persons were instructed to bring the project portfolio to $3.5 billion in the coming years.
