Latvia has tightened entry for citizens of Uzbekistan and CIS countries
Before the trip, you will have to inform in advance about the purpose of the visit and personal data.

Latvia sent a diplomatic note to Uzbekistan to tighten entry rules from 1 September, reports “Dunyo”.
The new regulation will also apply to citizens of other CIS countries. Holders of Schengen visas or residence permits from other EU nations will be exempt from the procedure.
Others are required to submit their information on the eta.gov.lv website at least 48 hours prior to their trip to Latvia. This requirement also applies to individuals transiting through Latvia.
It is necessary to provide information regarding the purpose of the trip, duration and place of stay in Latvia, route, positions held, service in various departments, participation in elections, official status, and contact details. Failure to supply this information or providing false details will result in a fine of up to two thousand euros.
The new entry procedure does not apply to individuals with diplomatic immunity, persons arriving in Latvia for a short stay to perform official duties, or those providing technical support.
Previously, the Latvian side will not introducequotas for migrants from Uzbekistan, workers will be protected, and their legal employment and rights will be guaranteed. Against this backdrop, Uzbekistan decided to send more migrants to Latvia.
Meanwhile, the authorities of neighbouring Lithuania plan to reject migrants from Uzbekistan, according to the country’s Prime Minister, due to the cultural differences of people from Central Asia, their tendency towards Islamic radicalism, and the risks of terrorism.
