Electric trains will transform the Tashkent region into a dormitory area for the capital

The new high-speed lines will enable residents to commute to Tashkent every day.

On September 10, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on discussing the reform effectiveness and new plans in Tashkent region.

During the meeting, the president instructed officials to connect all districts of Tashkent region with the capital through new high-speed electric trains to boost demand for housing and infrastructure in the city. Additionally, electric trains will enable residents of the regions to commute to the capital daily for work.

It should be noted that now, a million people travel to Tashkent daily from the regions, with 275 thousand of them coming from the Tashkent region. The primary mode of transport for them remains cars, which significantly burden the road network, especially at the city entrance. Traffic jams even affected the president.

At a meeting on 9 July, the president criticised the existing transport system and instructed the commencement of a transition to a unified agglomeration transport system that would cover the capital and surrounding districts of the region, including expanding bus routes and resuming intercity bus services.
