Director of the Center For Pharmaceutical Products Safety Alisher Temirov said that the electronic prescription system will prevent the sale of counterfeit medicines, and in case of side effects, it will be possible to check.
Since 2022, special digital marking of packaging has been introduced, with each packaging of all medicines imported into Uzbekistan, starting from customs or all domestically produced medicines, being marked with a special digital identification number.
The system is monitored by the Tax Committee throughout the entire trade route, that is, from the manufacturer to the wholesaler and then to the pharmacy, and the responsible authorities can view this information online.
You can see which medicine is in which pharmacy or in the warehouse of which manufacturer, — Alisher Temirov noted.
As a result of the implementation of an electronic prescription system, it will be clear to which patient the medication has reached, and if there are side effects from this medication, the responsible authorities will be able to check it and find out the reasons.
But in the case of counterfeit drugs, this drug will no longer be prescribed, distributed, that is, there will be no need, demand, and purchase of this drug, — the specialist concluded.
