The E-Gate automated passport control system has begun operating in the arrival hall of Tashkent International Airport, the press service of Uzbekistan Airports reports.

According to the information, 8 electronic corridors intended for Uzbek citizens have been built in the new zone. To get inside, the passenger only needs to apply their biometric passport to the reader and undergo a facial recognition procedure. This process takes up to 15-20 seconds, after which, if the identity is confirmed, the turnstile will open automatically.

It is noted that such a system was first tested at the Tashkent airport in 2023. At that time, it operated in the departure hall of the international terminal. Currently, the total number of automated checkpoints at the capital’s air harbor, including the new section, has reached 20 units.

It is planned that the new system will significantly reduce passport control time, increase the capacity of checkpoints, and provide additional comfort for passengers.

Earlier, it was reported that projects and construction on the future airport site would be limited in the Tashkent region. In this way, the authorities plan to prevent the price of land and real estate in this area from rising.
