Environmental control has been strengthened at the Tashkent Thermal Power Plant, with filters and automatic monitoring installed, according to the Ministry of Energy’s press service.

According to the information, five boiler units and one gas turbine unit were repaired at the Tashkent Thermal Power Plant located in the Yakkasaray district. Also, the enterprise completely stopped using fuel oil. Now electricity and heat energy are produced only with the help of modern installations based on natural gas.

It was noted that current and major repairs have been carried out at nine heating plants in the system. Major repairs have been carried out on 13 boilers, and current repairs on 47 boilers. The combined heat capacity of the facilities is 4580 Gcal, which ensures a stable supply of heat to consumers at 60-85 degrees during the heating season.

Also, to strengthen environmental requirements, six out of nine heating plants in Tashkent that previously used fuel oil boilers have implemented filtration systems with absorption processing of flue gases. In addition, specialists installed equipment for purifying fuel oil from solid mechanical impurities.

In addition, to further strengthen environmental sustainability, a new 100 MW gas-piston power plant is planned to be commissioned on the territory of the 4th Heat Center by the end of 2025. It is noted that the new installations will allow the production of an additional 515 million kWh of electricity and 630 Gcal of thermal energy per year.

To strengthen environmental control, four automatic monitoring stations (AMS) and one eco-post were also installed on the enterprise’s territory, and filters and mechanical connections in gas networks were completely updated. All indicators are transmitted to the Situation Center of the Environmental Organization in real time and are constantly analyzed.

The department reported that due to the fact that the enterprise is located in the center of Tashkent, specialists are actively working to reduce the environmental burden and improve the appearance of the city. In particular, 16,490 fruit and ornamental tree seedlings were planted on an area of 15.5 hectares, and a “green belt” was created.

After the commissioning of the gas-piston power plant, it is planned to create 50 new jobs and produce an average of 876 million kWh of electricity and 784 thousand Gcal of thermal energy annually, which will save 15 million cubic meters of natural gas per year. The power plant is expected to provide electricity to an average of 365 thousand households and heat to 58 thousand households.

Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan could set a new record for energy consumption in winter. The authorities plan to complete preparations for the autumn-winter season by October 5th.
