In Uzbekistan, starting from 2026, the positions of medical facility directors and chief physicians will be separated, with specific areas of responsibility defined for each role, according to the president’s press service.

The authorities plan to divide responsibilities in such a way that managers will be responsible for the management part, and chief physicians for the medicine. For this purpose, candidates for leadership positions are planned to be selected from among entrepreneurs with management education and successful work experience. It is noted that the authorities plan to introduce a new procedure starting from 2026 in 26 centers and family polyclinics.

It is planned that the reform will contribute to the implementation of an integrated healthcare management system and will allow not only to effectively refer patients for treatment, but also to solve issues of disease prevention, advanced training of doctors, and the introduction of modern working methods. The new procedure should also improve the quality of services and the transparency of medical institutions.

Earlier, it was reported that healthcare officials would familiarize themselves with residents’ problems. The President instructed the workers to put themselves in the patient’s shoes in terms of convenience.
