Uzbekistan will receive mammography equipment worth nearly $6 million in grants from Japan, according to the Ministry of Health’s press service.
According to the information, the head of the department, Asilbek Khudayarov, met with the appointed Ambassador of Japan. Within the framework of the meeting, the parties discussed cooperation, as well as a project to supply mammographs within the framework of the grant program. In particular, between 2025 and 2026, Japan plans to supply $5.7 million worth of state-of-the-art medical equipment to the country.
Furthermore, the authorities plan to equip district medical associations across the country with mammographic equipment. The implementation of the project is planned to help cover all women in the country with screening programs aimed at early detection of breast cancer.
Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan would adopt a national plan to combat cancer. Experts from the Ministry of Health and the WHO agreed on the zero version of the project.
