In the Samarkand region, for the first time in the republic, a complex of two semi-underground containers for household waste storage was commissioned, the press service of the Waste Management and Circular Economy Development Agency reports.
The complex was built in the “Obod Maskan” neighborhood of the Karasu massif in Samarkand. The new system is designed to prevent waste scattering, spread unpleasant odors in hot weather, and create comfortable conditions for citizens. Such projects will be consistently implemented throughout the republic.
The underground complex consisting of two blocks was built at a depth of 2 meters. 2 containers are installed in each block. The capacity of each container is 3 cubic meters (550 liters). They will be able to serve from 1000 to 1500 people. It is planned to build another 5 such complexes.
As a reminder, Uzbekistan began generating energy by burning medical waste. Currently, the plant burns and disposes of 3 tons of medical waste daily, and its capacity is designed to process 6 thousand tons of waste.
