Shahzod Rismatov, who fraudulently sold his daughter-in-law’s parents’ house to blogger Sanjar Karimov, has been sentenced in Tashkent, the capital’s court press service reports.

The Mirzo-Ulugbek District Criminal Court found the man guilty under Article 168, Part 4, Clause “a” (Fraud) and sentenced him to 9 years in prison, with the sentence to be served in a general regime colony. Also, 3.44 billion soums were recovered from the defendant in favor of J. Yu., 925.76 million soums in favor of the victim S.S., and 464.67 million soums in favor of the third victim J.A.

The department also reported that parties disagreeing with the court’s verdict may appeal the verdict in the prescribed manner. Furthermore, it was noted that the court’s private ruling will send relevant materials to the Mirzo-Ulugbek District Prosecutor’s Office regarding the initiation of criminal proceedings against other individuals in connection with Shahzod Rismatov’s criminal case.

In addition, the court clarified to the parties the right to file an application in the civil procedure for the termination of the concluded housing purchase and sale agreements.

It’s worth noting that all episodes involving Shahzod Rismatov were reviewed in court. The defendant pleaded guilty only to the last three charges. At the hearing, two victims told the court that they would have no claims if the funds were returned. Currently, negotiations are underway with the victims regarding the return of the borrowed money.

The defendant did not agree with the accusations in the case of the sale and purchase of his bride’s house. He requested that the audio recordings presented as evidence be sent for examination, noting that they were intentionally cut and glued together. This was requested by the defendant’s lawyer with a request to return the case to the investigation.
