On 3 September, in Samarkand, a Cobalt driver collided with an automatic barrier at the airport entrance at high speed, the regional traffic police press service reported.
The incident took place around 01:00 on Ibn Sino Street in the airport area. The driver of the Cobalt exceeded the speed limit, lost control, and collided with the scooter, then crashed into the automatic barrier at the airport entrance. As a result, the scooter’s driver and passenger were taken to hospital.
The Traffic Accidents Department of the Samarkand Internal Affairs is conducting a preliminary investigation, — the statement said.
As a reminder, Tashkent plans to raise the speed limit to 80 km/h on five streets. Additionally, to prevent traffic jams and accidents, authorities intend to introduce one-way traffic on 12 streets.
