After the ceremonial presentation, a conversation took place during which the parties discussed the current state and prospects for developing Uzbek-Maldivian relations in political, trade-economic, investment, cultural-humanitarian, and other spheres.
President Mohamed Muizzu expressed the Maldives’ readiness to further strengthen cooperation with Uzbekistan within the framework of the UN, OIC, and other international and regional organizations on issues of mutual interest, including climate change, sustainable development, and regional security, the report states.
Special attention was given to developing partnerships in tourism and higher education. In particular, they discussed prospects for Maldivian students to study at Uzbekistan’s universities. An agreement was reached to consider the possibilities of opening direct flights between the two countries, simplifying visa regimes, and developing joint tourist packages.
