On December 14, Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated agricultural workers on their professional holiday, noting their contribution to the development of the agricultural sector, the country’s economy, and ensuring food security, the presidential press service reports.
The congratulatory message emphasizes that, despite the challenges associated with climate change and water scarcity, significant progress was made in the agricultural sector in 2025. In particular, due to the introduction of modern agricultural technologies and the sowing of new varieties of agricultural crops, high yields were ensured.
More than 3 thousand farmers harvested 50-60 centners of cotton per hectare, of which about 1.5 thousand exceeded the indicator of 70 centners. In grain farming, more than 3.5 thousand farms harvested an average of 100 centners. The growth of export potential was also noted: the number of countries importing Uzbek fruit and vegetable products increased by 18 and reached 83.
On the eve of the holiday, 110 representatives of the agricultural sector were awarded state awards.
In the context of global climate change, providing the population with quality food remains a priority. The development of the industry is possible only on the basis of modern knowledge, innovations, and the training of qualified personnel, — the message says.
In addition, farmers who have independently grown at least 50% of the cotton harvest will be provided with a 5% subsidy, and farms without debt will be provided with preferential loans at a rate of up to 2%. A new subsidy management system will be introduced, which will now be centralized through the Agency for Payments in the Agricultural Sector and will be formalized exclusively through an electronic platform.
A new crop insurance system is planned to be launched: 50% of insurance costs will be covered by the state, and compensation for crop losses will be paid through the Agricultural Insurance Fund. It is planned to assign leading mentor farmers to farms with low yields, as well as to train specialists within the framework of the “New agronomist” program.
It is reported that 35 trillion soums will be allocated to support cotton farming alone. Similar subsidies are planned to be introduced for farmers growing grain crops. In horticulture, a three-year program for the renewal of orchards and vineyards will be implemented.
Special attention was paid to fish farming: a new program for the development of the industry, cooperation with Hungarian and Norwegian partners, compensation for half of the costs of importing breeding fish, as well as tax and customs benefits for fish farms are planned.
I am confident that you, my dear friends, will take an active part in the successful implementation of such large-scale tasks and make a worthy contribution to raising the development of the industry to a new level. Once again, I sincerely congratulate you on today’s wonderful holiday, wish you all health, peace, and prosperity to your families. May your path of achievements and victories continue, just like this year, — the President said.
