In the Fergana region, a 36-year-old man took his wife to a deserted area, beat her, and burned her alive, RTV reports.
The investigation revealed that the man had been causing conflicts with his wife for a long time due to jealousy. On the day of the incident, around 12:00, there was another quarrel between the spouses. The accused forcibly took the woman out of the house, pushed her into a Matiz car, and then bought a liter of gasoline and put it in the car.
He took his wife to a deserted place and demanded she record a video for his mother, stating in it that he intended to commit suicide. After receiving a refusal, the man brutally beat the victim, while injuring himself with a sharp object.
He poured gasoline on the woman and set her on fire. The victim threw herself into a river flowing nearby, trying to escape. The woman was noticed by farmers working nearby. They pulled her out of the water and called for help.
The victim was taken to the hospital in serious condition. Despite the doctors’ efforts, she died from her injuries within a few days. The court found the man guilty under Article 97, Part 2, Clause “j” of the Criminal Code (intentional homicide committed with particular cruelty) and sentenced him to 15 years in prison.
