In Bukhara, a woman attempted to drown her children along with herself in a water canal

The accused tried to commit suicide after a conflict with her cohabitant.

In the Bukhara region, a woman attempted to drown two children along with herself in a canal, the Supreme Court’s press service reported.

The incident occurred on March 9th in the Yuzon neighborhood. The mother of two sons decided to take her own life after her husband informed her that he was planning to marry another. The woman came to the irrigation ditch and threw her eldest son into the water, after which she herself jumped with the youngest. Witnesses managed to pull out the first child, the mother herself carried the second.

It is reported that the children were hospitalized, they were not injured. A criminal case has been initiated against the woman under Article 97-25, Part 2, Clauses “a” and “v” of the Criminal Code (Attempted murder of two or more persons, knowingly for the guilty party to be in a helpless state). The court sentenced the woman to 4 years in prison.

As a reminder, a teenager in Tashkent region drowned while attempting to retrieve a soccer ball. Law enforcement agencies are conducting an inspection.
