Uzbekistan has reached an agreement with Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan on water and energy cooperation
The countries signed a trilateral protocol.

Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan agreed on water and energy cooperation parameters and mutual support, the Ministry of Energy’s press service reported.
According to the information, the parties agreed on the parameters of further water and energy cooperation. The participants decided to support each other with mutual electricity supplies and coordinate joint efforts to successfully pass the heating season and prepare for the upcoming growing season.
Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan confirmed their readiness to supply electricity to Kyrgyzstan during the autumn-winter period, which will allow the Kyrgyz side to reduce electricity production in winter and accumulate water in the Toktogul reservoir. The accumulated volume is planned to be sent to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan during the growing season to ensure stable irrigation of agricultural lands in the southern regions.
It was emphasized that joint work is being carried out in the spirit of good neighborliness and is aimed at strengthening energy security and stability throughout Central Asia. The Uzbek side also confirmed its readiness to provide technical conditions for transit, supply, and balancing of the energy system. Following the meeting, the parties signed a trilateral protocol legally consolidating the volumes of winter electricity supplies and water accumulation for the 2026 vegetation period.
Earlier, it was reported that environmental control had been strengthened at the Tashkent Thermal Power Plant. Energy at the facility is generated only on the basis of gas.
