Uzbekistan plans to gradually increase the average salary of teachers and kindergarten teachers, according to a document published for public discussion.

According to the information, the authorities plan to increase the salaries of teachers and educators by 2 times. In particular, the increase is planned to be implemented as follows: in 2026 — by 0.4 times, in 2027 — by 0.8 times, in 2028 — by 1.2 times, in 2029 — by 1.6 times, and by 2030 — by 2 times compared to the current level.

The document also provides for the coverage of about 500 thousand pedagogical workers with continuous professional development programs. At the same time, the main focus is planned to be on updating professional skills and developing competencies that are in demand in the modern education system.

In addition, the authorities want to increase the share of graduates studying in pedagogical fields to 17% through the budget for in-demand specialties and remote regions — this will be another direction of reforms. It is planned that this will help to raise the status of pedagogical personnel, as well as bring their knowledge and professional skills in line with international standards.

Earlier, it was reported that music teachers and physical education teachers in Uzbekistan would receive additional payments with a certificate. Teachers will be required to successfully pass practical and test exams.
