On December 24, the presidential decree “On establishing additional non-working days during the celebration of official dates and postponing weekends in 2026” was adopted, the presidential press service reports.

According to the information, in order to ensure the full recreation of citizens during the celebration of official dates, to ensure the effective use of weekends and holidays for the further development of domestic and pilgrimage tourism, within the framework of the “Uzbekistan Travel” program for the development of domestic tourism, additional non-working days are established:

  • in 2025 — for all employees on Wednesday, December 31st;
  • in 2026 — for all employees — Friday, January 2, Thursday, May 28, Friday, May 29, Monday, August 31; for employees with a six-day work week — Saturday, January 3, Saturday, May 30, Thursday, December 31.

Due to the coincidence in 2026 of the non-working holidays “8 March — Women’s Day” with Sunday — a day off, as well as the holidays “21 March — Navruz” and “9 May — Day of Remembrance and Honor” with Saturday — a day off for employees with a five-day work week, these days off will be moved to Monday, March 9, March 23, and May 11, 2026, respectively.

When performing work on non-working holidays, the suspension of which is impossible due to production, technical, and organizational conditions (continuously operating production, daily service to the population, rotational work, and others), the postponement of weekends is not carried out.

Also, in 2026, weekends for employees with a five-day work week will be moved from Saturday, December 12th, to Thursday, December 31st.
