The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan held the first round of consultations with experts from the European Commission’s Directorate General for Internal Affairs and Migration, Dunyo reports.

The parties discussed the possibility of simplifying visa procedures for citizens of Uzbekistan entering for work, study, for truck drivers, as well as tourist groups.

The European side has put forward a list of conditions that Uzbekistan must fulfill before hoping to simplify the visa regime. The list of conditions is not disclosed. There are no specific promotions in the matter yet.

An agreement was reached to hold further similar consultations to achieve the above-mentioned goals as soon as possible.

Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistanis would be able to travel to Europe more easily through Cyprus. A visa center for the island nation has opened in Tashkent, which plans to join the Schengen Area by the end of the year.
