The construction of the Center of Islamic civilization has moved to the final stage

Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the complex and familiarized himself with the already completed works.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Center of Islamic civilization and reviewed the final finishing and equipping works of the complex, according to the presidential press service.

According to the information, the foundation of a large-scale project was laid during Ramadan Hayit in 2018. Currently, the specialists have moved on to the final stage of work. It is noted that the complex is being built in the style of ancient architectural monuments. Portals 34 meters high have been erected on the four sides of the complex, with a 65-meter dome rising in the center.

The main space in the center is the Quran hall, where the spiritual relic of the Muslim world — the ancient Uthman Mushaf — will be kept. Additionally, manuscript copies of the Quran created during the Samanid, Karakhanid, Khorezmshah, Uzbek Khanate, Timurid, and other dynasties, along with their translations into Old Uzbek, as well as unique manuscripts from world collections, will be presented. The center has a conference hall with 460 seats, equipped with modern technology for holding international meetings and forums.

“Uzbekistan has a great history. The scientific and cultural heritage of our ancestors left an indelible mark on the history of mankind. I am confident that this center will play a huge role in bringing this heritage to the world community”, — Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized.

It is planned that the exhibitions “Civilizations before Islam”, “The Era of the First Renaissance”, “The Era of the Second Renaissance”, “Uzbekistan in the 20th Century” and “New Uzbekistan — New Renaissance” will operate in the complex. Artifacts, manuscripts, images, and multimedia materials represent the history of these periods. The multifaceted activities of great thinkers, as well as patronesses of science and enlightenment, in the development of Islamic enlightenment are revealed in detail.

The center is designed to become a place for deeply studying the heritage of ancestors and transforming it into a living force capable of responding to modern challenges. To this end, cooperation will be established with the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan, the Imam Bukhari, Imam Termizi, Imam Moturidi International Scientific and Educational Centers, and other organizations, which will allow us to find worthy scientific answers to modern challenges.

The President highly appreciated the progress of the construction, emphasizing the need to properly organize the center’s work and constantly enrich its content. The head of state also inspected a number of newly built trade and service facilities that should contribute to the development of tourism.

“For eight years, enormous work has been carried out here. We have erected a majestic center whose depth and content cannot be overestimated. Every guest who visits it will be filled with respect for the rich history of our people, the knowledge and thinking of our ancestors, and will receive a powerful spiritual charm here”, noted Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Earlier, it was reported that the President of Uzbekistan pardoned hundreds of prisoners in honor of Independence Day. The prosecutor’s office and relevant agencies organized the released individuals to their place of residence.
