Residents will be able to block any construction involving tree cutting
For this, it will be necessary to obtain the approval of only 10% of the residents of the mahalla.

In Uzbekistan, starting from 2026, residents will be able to impose a public ban on the seizure or allocation of land plots in populated areas where trees grow, according to a presidential decree.
According to the information, the measure will take effect from April 1, 2026. To impose a public ban, citizens will need to apply to the authorities with the help of public service centers or the Single Portal of Interactive Public Services. If at least 10% of the population of the mahalla where the land plot is covered with trees agrees with the ban, the Ecology Committee will impose a ban.
Further, the Cadastral Agency will verify whether the relevant land plot is privately owned or not belonging to another land category and, if positive, will register the Ecology Committee’s ban on the plot.
Earlier, it was reported that an Environmental Police would be established in Uzbekistan. The body will be granted enforcement powers to strengthen control and prevent violations.
