People will only drive their personal cars on weekends — President on BRT development in Tashkent
Shavkat Mirziyoyev said that the Shota Rustaveli project will become an example for other streets.
In Tashkent, it is planned to take the experience of the first allocation for buses as a basis and use it as a model for the construction of such streets, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said during the live broadcast of “Uzbekistan 24”.
The khokim of Tashkent, Shavkat Umurzakov, said that the reconstruction of Shota Rustaveli Street was carried out taking into account a unified design code and assured that it will become the basis for the construction and reconstruction of other streets. Shavkat Umurzakov noted that the streets will lead to a unified style, and all bicycle paths and pedestrian paths will be separated from each other.
Also, the city administration representative said that authorities planted bushes and 14 thousand trees, and also put the drainage system in order. The country’s leader also noted that the bus line passes through the middle of the street, as instructed, and said that this project will be an example for other streets as well.
If the streets are like this, if we allow buses, shuttle buses, people will drive their personal cars only on Saturdays and Sundays. Why is this necessary? It’s cheap, safe, fast. Why is a car needed? The car will take children on vacation on Saturdays and Sundays, — Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized.
The capital’s mayor also stated that thanks to the new system, the speed of buses on the line has doubled. It is noted that the length of the reconstructed section of the road is about 7 km, and the cost of the project was within 19.2 million dollars.
It should be noted that Shavkat Mirziyoyev, together with representatives of state and public organizations, rode a bus through the street, familiarized himself with the amenities, and talked with passengers. The President was also presented with projects on expanding the network of dedicated bus lanes and creating transport hubs around the capital.
Earlier, it became known where more bus sections will appear in the center of the road in Tashkent. The project to expand the BRT system was presented to the President.
