It is planned to transfer 87 enterprises polluting the atmosphere from Tashkent, as well as a number of industrial facilities to Nukus, the press service of the National Committee for Ecology of the country reports.

According to the information, the authorities plan to move asbestos and cement industry enterprises, leather and footwear and poultry production, ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy, as well as other energy-intensive industries from Tashkent and Nukus, as well as regional centers.

It is planned that the withdrawal of one industrial enterprise will reduce emissions by more than 226 tons per year. It is planned to transfer 87 such enterprises from Tashkent alone. It is noted that the transfer will be carried out in stages, provided that existing capacities are modernized and production processes are brought into compliance with modern environmental standards.

For this purpose, the Special Commission conducts regular raid inspections of industrial facilities. Thus, in the Southern industrial zone of the Yangikhayot district of the capital, the activities of the enterprise of JSC “Uzvtortsvetmet”, specializing in the procurement, processing, and production of secondary non-ferrous metals, were inspected.

Following the inspection, the enterprise was issued a mandatory order, and compensation for environmental damage amounting to 18 billion 91 million 717 thousand 137 soums was calculated. Based on this order, the enterprise will be relocated to the industrial zone of the Jizzakh region and will cease production activities in the Yangikhayot district.

It is noted that the authorities will provide the enterprise with a number of compensation benefits, which will allow the disposal of obsolete and environmentally harmful smelting furnaces, and the facility itself will be able to continue its activities on more technologically advanced equipment that fully meets modern environmental requirements. It is planned that the measures taken will prevent the release of about 226.7 tons of pollutants into the atmosphere annually.

Earlier, it was reported that more than a hundred enterprises in Tashkent and Tashkent region were closed for environmental violations. During one month of raids, specialists identified 1,128 violations.
