Greenhouses and construction sites closed in Tashkent due to air pollution — report
In five days, thousands of facilities were inspected: 101 production facilities were shut down, hundreds of people were fined, and the concentration of PM2.5 decreased significantly.

The Special Commission is conducting large-scale raids in Tashkent and its suburbs to stop the activities of facilities polluting the atmosphere. The Head of the Department of the Center “Eco-Media” Aziza Uzakbergenova reported on the results of the work carried out in the period from November 24 to 28.
Greenhouses
1449 greenhouse farms were inspected.
- 67 greenhouses have been temporarily suspended.
- 403 people received administrative protocols.
- Hududgaztaminot has issued technical conditions for connecting 19 greenhouses to natural gas.
Construction facilities
In the capital, 53 illegal constructions with a total area of 6.3 hectares were discovered – measures are being taken to eliminate them.
- In 186 cases, air pollution was detected.
- 25% of the 235 inspected construction sites do not have mandatory landscaping.
- Work at 34 construction sites has been temporarily suspended.
- 188 people were brought to administrative responsibility.
- Water sprayers for dust control have been installed at 51 facilities.
Motor transport
Received fines:
- 837 truck drivers for transporting goods without a tarp;
- 206 drivers for exceeding air pollution standards.
Microclimate and landscaping
Large-scale work has been carried out to clean and moisturize the urban environment:
- 77 streets and 165 public places were irrigated (total length – 496 km);
- 322 km of irrigation ditches fed by 45 canals were cleaned;
- 126 fountains were created.
Illegal extraction of SGM
In the Tashkent region, 54 cases of illegal collection of sand and gravel were identified. The perpetrators are being held accountable.
Level of pollution
After the measures taken, the concentration of PM2.5 in the capital decreased from November 24 to 28:
- November 24 — 171 μg/m³ (18:00);
- November 25 — 152 μg/m³;
- November 26 — 140 μg/m³;
- November 27 — 111 μg/m³;
- November 28 — 97 μg/m³.
New pollution growth is expected
According to Uzhydromet, a cold anticyclone will intensify from November 29 and will last until December 5. This can temporarily intensify the inversion and increase the concentration of pollutants.
