A “smart” traffic light system will appear in Tashkent.

The measure is being implemented as part of the fight against traffic congestion.

A “smart” traffic light system will be launched in Tashkent, which will connect 600 intersections into a single “digital map” and control traffic lights using AI, according to the presidential decree.

According to the information, the measure is being implemented within the framework of the head of state’s decree on combating traffic congestion in the streets. In particular, the authorities plan to create a Unified Road Traffic Management Center in Tashkent. As part of the project implementation, a system of “smart” traffic lights will appear in the capital.

The authorities plan to connect 600 intersections to a single “digital map”, and traffic lights will be managed based on traffic flow data using artificial intelligence. This should reduce traffic jams by 30% and increase the average speed by 44 km/h.

Also, the new measure should reduce waiting times at traffic lights by 35%. It is planned that these changes will not only open roads, but also improve the quality of life: time lost in traffic will return to your relatives and loved ones. The combination of “smart management” and environmentally friendly transport will make Tashkent not only convenient for movement but also a safe and clean metropolis for living.

Earlier, the khokim of Tashkent, Shavkat Umurzakov, spoke about what the future Unified Center for Road Traffic Organization will be like and how the application will work for citizens. According to Shavkat Umurzakov, the new traffic management center will significantly reduce traffic congestion.
