The Uzbekistan national team coach explained what is needed to face Portugal and Colombia in the 2026 World Cup
Fabio Cannavaro emphasized that the national team's debut in the World Cup makes the task especially difficult.

The head coach of the Uzbekistan national football team, Fabio Cannavaro, commented on being in the “K” group for the upcoming 2026 World Cup, which also included Portugal and Colombia, Deportes RCN reports.
The specialist said that the national team’s debut in the world championship makes the task especially difficult. The team faces not only the high level of opponents but also internal limitations.
We ended up in a very difficult group: Portugal, Colombia… For our federation, this is their first participation in the world championship, and the very preparation for the tournament is already a great experience, — Kannavaro noted.
Cannavaro specifically highlighted the state of the national championship.
The intensity of games in our league is still far from top-level. This is what needs to be improved. But for the country, the very fact of entering the world arena is already a historic step.
Fabio Cannavaro also explained the Uzbekistan national team’s approach:
Against such opponents, individual actions will not work. We need to act as a single mechanism. Football is a collective game, and only in this way can we put something against Colombia and Portugal.
