Prosecutor’s office supported Tashkent residents in the Grand Mir Hotel scandal
A 30-story building was planned for construction on the hotel site, which goes against the master plan of the capital.
The prosecutor’s office sided with Tashkent residents in the Grand Mir Hotel scandal, according to blogger Nikita Makarenko.
On June 27, renders and a project for three 30-story buildings, which are planned to be built on the site of the Grand Mir Hotel, appeared online. It is reported that a shopping and entertainment center will be located on the first floors. According to Makarenko, nearly 3,000 Tashkent residents signed a collective appeal against the construction of this complex.
The petition has been submitted to the President’s Reception Office, the Cabinet of Ministers, the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Ministry of Construction, the Tashkent city administration, and the city council. The capital’s administration reported that another hotel is planned to be built on the site of the hotel. However, according to the master plan, it is not allowed to build buildings taller than five floors.
Residents of the Bogsaroy neighborhood demanded hearings and the publication of the project in accessible sources so that the public could familiarize themselves with the developer’s obligations and assess the risks, — the report said.
The Prosecutor General’s Office gave an official response to the appeal of a group of protesters from the Bogsaroy neighborhood. According to the General Plan, it is prohibited to build buildings taller than 5 floors on the site of the Grand Mir Hotel. The prosecutor’s office also confirmed that no documents were submitted to the City Planning Council.
Recall that the Business Ombudsman called it unacceptable to punish a businessman for criticizing corruption. Earlier, the entrepreneur revealed the story of corruption schemes in the construction sector, to which the Ministry of Construction responded with a statement to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
