Thousands of foreigners were expelled from Russia
The Chairman of the State Duma called on migrants to legalize their status.

From January to August 2025, about 35 thousand foreigners who violated migration legislation were expelled from Russia, State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin reported.
The official said that on September 10, the validity period for legalizing the stay of migrants, who are in the database on citizens illegally staying in the country, expired. It was noted that information about foreigners without the necessary documents for obtaining migration status or citizenship, who are not registered at their place of residence, who have violated the deadlines for undergoing a medical examination, fingerprinting, and photography, or who have not renewed their work permit, was entered there.
In particular, during the eight months of 2025, law enforcement officers expelled 35 thousand foreigners who were included in such a register. At the same time, according to the State Duma representative, as of September 1, another 70 thousand migrants remained in this register, of which one-third were women and children. In this regard, a new migration regime began to operate for such citizens — the expulsion regime, which provides for stricter control and restrictions on a number of rights, including driving rights, as well as the possibility of purchasing housing and obtaining loans.
Vyacheslav Volodin reminded that citizens who have not legalized their status in the country should return to their homeland, informing law enforcement officers of the date, place, and route of the planned departure. Otherwise, they face forced deportation and a fine, as well as a 5-year ban on entry into the country.
Earlier, it was reported that Muslims in Russia were banned from engaging in courier delivery of non-halal goods. The Muslim Board explained that responsibility will only arise when one acts consciously.
