In Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was asked not to raise salaries and pensions
The elder in the country's parliament stated that “the authorities have already brought the country to a high standard of living and made people happy”.

On September 19, the arqadagh Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov held a meeting of the People’s Council of Turkmenistan, where he was asked to stop raising salaries, pensions, benefits, and scholarships, the TDH state news agency reported.
Elder Yazmirat Atamyradov spoke at the meeting. He called on Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and his son, President Serdar, to stop raising salaries, pensions, benefits, and scholarships. The elder said that there is no such thing in any country in the world, and the authorities have already brought the country to a high standard of living and made people happy.
The elder noted that it is more expedient to direct the saved funds to the further development of the country and other important areas. Whether this proposal will be supported is still unknown, but the former president “expressed gratitude to Atamyradov for his speech and recommendations”.
Turkmens on social media are worried about the future abolition of payment indexation. In 2015, with a similar presentation by a member of parliament about a good life, benefits for gas, water, and electricity were abolished. Now, salaries, pensions, and benefits are increasing by 10% annually, which does not cover the real level of price growth and does not lead to an increase in well-being. The minimum pension is 550 manat ($26 at an unofficial rate).
