Uzbekistan plans to double the number of foreign tourists by 2030

Also, the authorities plan to double the number of 4- and 5-star hotels in the country.

In Uzbekistan, a Tourism Committee will appear, which will be engaged in the development of the sphere, as well as tourism and transport logistics in the country, according to the presidential decree.

Within two months, the committee, together with the Agency for Strategic Development and Reforms, will work on the draft Strategy for the Development of the Tourism Sector of the Republic of Uzbekistan until 2040. This project will be implemented by the organization by March 1, 2026.

Also, until April 1, 2026, the organization, together with the Ministry of Digital Technologies and the Ministry of Economy and Finance, will work on developing a draft Marketing Strategy for tourism services markets until 2030, which provides for the promotion of national tourism products in foreign countries with an active population of travelers, as well as the widespread introduction of a targeted advertising system in the tourism sector.

It is noted that the main goals for the development of the tourism sector until 2030 will include:

  • bringing the share of the tourism sector in the gross domestic product from the current 3.5% to 7%;
  • bringing the annual number of foreign tourists from the current 10 million people to 20 million people, including increasing the flow of tourists with high purchasing power;
  • increasing the annual volume of tourism services exports to 6 billion soums;
  • improvement of transport links between tourist cities of Uzbekistan, increasing the number of domestic flights and reducing travel time by at least 3 times;
  • increasing the number of 4- and 5-star hotels by 2 times;
  • full utilization of the republic’s tourism potential through the diversification of tourism services and products;
  • creation of a widely recognized tourism brand of Uzbekistan in the world and implementation of new tools for promoting national tourism products.

Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan would introduce discounts for pensioners in the tourism sector. The offer will be valid for one month for men over 60 and women over 55.
