In Tashkent, it is planned to increase the number of tourist and gastronomic streets, for which the authorities will allocate 1 trillion soums, the capital’s khokim Shavkat Umurzakov said in a live broadcast on the Uzbekistan 24 TV channel.
A city administration representative said that the tourist and gastronomic streets were “very well and positively received” by city residents, in connection with which the authorities decided to increase their number. In particular, it is planned to build 24 km of round-the-clock streets.
It is noted that this should create about 20-30 thousand new jobs. Shavkat Umurzakov said that in 2026, the authorities plan to allocate 1 trillion soums from the local budget for the improvement of mahallas, the construction of gastronomic streets, and the renewal of irrigation systems.
As the mayor of Tashkent, I believe that historic decrees were signed. The implementation of the projects opened by the President will have a tangible impact on all residents of the capital and will create more than 100 thousand jobs, — Shavkat Umurzakov concluded.
Earlier, it was reported that several streets in Tashkent would be closed due to the gastronomy festival. The restriction on transportation will be in effect for four days.
