Tashkent authorities will begin monitoring street lighting

The institution will be responsible for implementing a remote management and accounting system.

An institution will appear in Tashkent to monitor and improve the street lighting system, Norma reports.

According to the information, the new “Toshshaharnur” institution will appear on the basis of the “Toshshaharnur” state unitary enterprise under the capital’s administration. It is noted that the new structure will be engaged in the operation, maintenance, and modernization of external lighting facilities.

The institution will also be responsible for implementing an automated remote control and electricity metering system. The tasks of “Toshshaharnur” will include:

  • installation of modern and energy-efficient lighting devices;
  • development of architectural and decorative lighting;
  • ensuring the illumination of buildings and monuments;
  • preparation of the city for state holidays and events.

It is noted that for the implementation of these goals in 2025, the authorities will allocate funds from the local budget, and in the future, the institution will be annually financed.

Earlier, the Statistics Agency conducted a study on street lighting in Uzbekistan, and its data is disappointing: the country’s regions live almost without street lighting. Every fifth lighting device comes from Tashkent.
