Sherzod Kudratkhuja called on Tashkent residents to host regional students — video
The rector of the University of Journalism made this proposal amid a complete shortage of dormitory places.

The rector of the University of Journalism and Mass Communications, Sherzodkhon Kudratkhuja, urged Tashkent residents to welcome regional students into their homes warmly.
According to him, the issue of a chronic shortage of dormitory places persists year after year. Not all universities are able to offer accommodation to their students. The rector mentioned that he personally took in three students who were left without housing during their studies.
“Friends, if you have an empty room in your house where you can stay, I ask you to open your doors. If you have vacant houses or large courtyards, accept students. Wherever a student enters, there is blessing, knowledge, and enlightenment. He will ease your burden, look after your livelihood, become your companion and confidant, be kind, be tolerant”, — he said.
According to the rector, the university has 350 places. 220 students have already been accommodated, and about 100 more are on the waiting list. However, the total number of those in need is 1,200 people.
The dormitory’s facilities are limited, so I address the residents of Tashkent, especially those living near the centre. We all came to Tashkent once, ate the bread here. Today, there are academics, ministers, and leaders among us. Tashkent is a city of students. Therefore, I ask everyone who has the opportunity to accept female or male students to respond. Personally, I have already received three students. I ask you to support them and help them with housing.
Recall that the president instructed that students should be provided with modern dormitories. Such facilities will be entirely converted to “green” energy supply. According to reports, in 2025, more than 30,000 university students will be accommodated in modern dormitories.
