People’s Artist of Uzbekistan Yakub Akhmedov passed away

The State Prize laureate, theater, film, and dubbing actor, was 87 years old.

Prominent art figure, People’s Artist of Uzbekistan, State Prize laureate, theater, film, and dubbing actor Yakub Akhmedov passed away at the age of 87, according to the National Academic Drama Theatre’s press service.

Yakub Akhmedov graduated from the Ostrovsky Theatre and Art Institute (now the State Institute of Arts and Culture of Uzbekistan) in 1959. From 1958, he began acting at the Hamza Uzbek Academic Drama Theater in Tashkent. For more than 20 years, he worked as the director of the Uzbek National Academic Drama Theater.

He acted in films: “Days Gone By”, “The Adventures of Ali Baba and the Forty Robbers”, “The Distant Near Years”, “The Battle of the Three Kings”, and others. He participated in dubbing more than 400 films into Uzbek. Yakub Ahmedov was awarded the “Dustlik” Order in 1997, the “Labor Valor” Medal in 2005, and the “For Selfless Service” Order in 2018.

As a reminder, People’s Artist and Dubbing Master Tolkin Tojiyev has passed away. The artist has embodied over a hundred characters in the theater and voiced over a thousand films.
