In Uzbekistan, more rare diseases will be treated at the expense of the state

Starting from 2026, patients will be able to receive free medical observation and treatment.

In Uzbekistan, the number of rare, as well as hereditary-genetic diseases, the treatment of which is carried out at the expense of the state budget, will increase, the government decree says.

According to the information, the authorities approved a program of measures to organize support measures for children suffering from orphan diseases for 2026-2030. In particular, it is planned to increase the number of such rare and hereditary-genetic diseases, which will be treated at the expense of the state budget, from 5 to 10.

In addition, the authorities want to increase the level of provision of such children with medicines, special food, as well as medical equipment, from 95% to 99%. Also, from January 1, 2026, patients aged 18 to 21 will be able to receive free medical observation and treatment.

Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan would create the first academic hub for pediatric oncology in the region. The state will allocate $110 million.
