In Namangan region, a 49-year-old citizen who participated in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine was sentenced, according to the court’s decision.

According to the information, in April 2025, the man went to Russia and signed a contract there with the country’s Ministry of Defense, receiving the military rank of “soldier”. After a short training in Lugansk, the man went to the territory of Ukraine to participate in the fighting.

The Uzbek citizen, who was injured in a mine explosion in May, went to a military hospital for treatment. After that, he returned to his homeland and voluntarily applied to law enforcement agencies. The citizen also handed over his contract, military ID, and medical documents to the police.

During the investigation, law enforcement officers found that the man received 1 million rubles for participating in the fighting. The Pap District Criminal Court found him guilty under Article 154 (Mercenarism) and Article 154-1 (Entering, recruiting for military service, service in security agencies, police, military justice or other similar agencies of foreign states) and sentenced him to 3 years and a month in prison.
