Archaeologists have discovered fossilized remains of a dinosaur that lived approximately 75 million years ago in Karakalpakstan, reports Uzbekistan24.
The paleontological find was discovered in the Sultan Uvays mountains during an expedition by scientists from Karakalpak State University and the State Geological Museum of Uzbekistan. According to the museum director Ahmadjon Akhmedshayev, fragments of the ancient lizard’s spine, parts of the lower leg, and other bone elements were found at the excavation site.
The discovered remains belong to the Cretaceous period, and their exact classification will be determined after laboratory studies are completed with the involvement of international experts. Currently, paleontological materials are being studied in specialized laboratories. Upon their completion, it will become clear which species the dinosaur belonged to.
