In Karakalpakstan, National Guard officers detained a citizen who illegally cut down Saxaul, a plant listed in the Red Book, the press service of the department reports.
During an inspection in the Okkamish neighborhood of Turtkul district, a citizen illegally cut down a rare plant protected by the state and transported it in a Mercedes Benz 208 truck.
The saxaul plant plays an important role in preventing sand movement, strengthening soil, and preserving biological diversity. Therefore, its illegal cutting and export is strictly prohibited by law, — the statement said.
An administrative case has been initiated against the citizen under part 1 of Article 79 (Illegal felling, uprooting, damaging, destroying, or transplanting of trees, shrubs, other plants, and young animals). He was fined 25 BCV (10.3 million soums). Also, the claim amount for the damage caused to nature amounted to 576,800 soums.
Recall that in Bukhara, employees of the Department of Ecology who were injured during the raid were awarded. The perpetrators who cut down the saxaul trees illegally actively resisted during the detention and wounded the inspectors.
