An operational event was held in the Tashkent region to counter the illegal circulation of precious metals, the State Security Service press service reported.
Employees of the Main Department of the State Security Service for the Tashkent region, together with the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the region, conducted a search operation in the Ohangaron district, as well as in the cities of Angren and Almalyk.
The purpose of the raids was to improve the criminogenic situation and suppress the activities of criminal groups involved in the illegal trafficking of precious metals.
As a result, 17.5 tons of sand and stones containing precious metals, equipment for their processing, 135 grams of gold, 25 grams of marijuana, hunting rifles, and 42 rounds of ammunition were seized from the homes of 9 citizens.
Currently, the material evidence has been sent for examination, and pre-trial investigative measures are being carried out.
