In Afghanistan, the development of a gas field began with the participation of Uzbekistan
A ceremony was held to launch the construction in the Balkh province.

Work has begun on the development of a gas field in Afghanistan with the participation of an Uzbek company, the press service of the acting Deputy Prime Minister of Afghanistan for Economic Affairs Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund reports.
Gas production is planned at the Tuti-Maydan fields in the Afghan provinces of Jauzjan and Faryab in the north of the country. TOLO News, citing the Ministry of Mining and Petroleum of Afghanistan, reported that a 25-year contract for the implementation of the project was signed with the international company KAM Group and the Uzbek company Railcom.
On September 14, a ceremony was held in the Balkh province to launch the construction. It was attended by Abdul Ghani Baradar, First Deputy Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Mamatkarimov, Chairman of Uzbekneftegaz Bahodirjon Sidikov, Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev.
Thanks to this project, the country’s dependence on gas and electricity imports will be reduced, foreign currency outflow will decrease, and over time, a foundation will be laid for gas exports abroad, — said Baradar.
Special Representative of the President Ismatulla Irgashev confirmed Uzbekistan’s commitment to supporting major economic projects in the country.
The project can become a model of economic partnership between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan and elevate our relations from the level of historical neighborliness to a new stage of modern economic cooperation, — he said.
The work will be carried out in accordance with international standards. According to the Afghan Ministry of Mining and Petroleum, Tuti-Maydan occupies an area of 7,500 square kilometers, where about 30 wells have already been drilled, and it has significant natural gas reserves.
Recall that Afghanistan once again called for the return of helicopters. Amir Khan Muttaqi, during a meeting with diplomats and international organisations, called for the return of helicopters to Afghanistan and urged the global community to lift banking sanctions.
