Uzbekistanis are concerned about the introduction of mask-wearing in schools
The Ministry of Health stated that the issue is being misinterpreted by citizens.

On October 30th, information circulated on social media about the introduction of mask-wearing in schools. The Ministry of Health commented on the situation.
The First Deputy Chairman of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare Committee, Nurmat Atabekov, said that the issue is being misinterpreted by citizens. First of all, the decision of the Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Uzbekistan dated September 26, 2025, is cited as the basis.
Note the date of the document: it was signed in September. In fact, such resolutions are made and appropriate recommendations are given to local institutions every year before the season of acute respiratory diseases and influenza, — the report says.
The decree stipulates wearing medical masks when the epidemic situation is complicated. It is reported that the epidemiological situation is currently stable. In addition, there is no need to wear masks everywhere in schools. If there are sick children in the group, then wearing masks is recommended only in places where contact with the patient is possible.
In the case of diseases transmitted through airborne droplets, it is advisable to maintain social distancing whenever possible and to wear a mask during communication. The procedure for wearing medical masks, specified in the document, will be decided on the spot depending on the situation. This cannot be interpreted as the widespread introduction of such a procedure.
Recall that earlier, Uzbekistan was concerned about the increase in the incidence of ARVI among children. The Ministry of Health explained this as the beginning of the virus season and gave recommendations to parents.
