Tons of spoiled products were found in kindergartens in Uzbekistan

Since the beginning of 2025, law enforcement officers have conducted raids in Uzbekistan’s kindergartens, checking the quality of products and compliance with the norms for organizing children’s meals, the SES press service reports.

The department’s employees conducted inspections in 3554 kindergartens, during which they checked the food served to the pupils, as well as the compliance with SanPiN. As a result of inspections, specialists rejected more than 9486 kg of substandard products. Also, during the raids, it was possible to establish that out of 8122 samples of finished products, 323 did not meet microbiological standards.

In addition, the inspection revealed that 237 out of 4461 drinking water samples also did not meet the requirements. Also, specialists found out that:

  • Of the 4986 samples for food nutritional value, 878 showed a low level;

  • 718 out of 2321 salt samples showed insufficient iodine content;
  • Of the 83,231 samples taken for chemical analyses, 4,110 also did not meet the established requirements.

In addition, experts noted that out of 88,203 samples taken for bacteriological analysis, 9,027 did not meet SanPiN requirements. During the verification of air temperature in the groups, it was possible to establish that in 1658 out of 23,425 cases, the temperature was below normal. Also, during the lighting level measurement, insufficient light levels were detected in 2,559 out of 43,665 points in the premises.

As a result of the inspection, law enforcement officers imposed fines on responsible individuals in 3,705 cases. In addition, 110 institutions temporarily suspended their activities, and 446 employees were temporarily suspended from work due to untimely medical examinations.

Earlier, it was reported that an inspection was being conducted at a kindergarten in Samarkand after reports of poor quality meat. Information about the potential distribution of spoiled meat to children caused a stir on social networks and became a pretext for the intervention of educational authorities.
