Thousands of Tashkent residents may be left without electricity due to unpaid waste collection bills

Subscribers were given five days after receiving an SMS about their debt, after which their access to electricity payments was restricted.

In Tashkent, the possibility of paying electricity bills to 6 thousand debtors for waste disposal has been temporarily restricted, the press service of the Waste Management Agency reports.

According to the data, on November 5, 25,121 subscribers in the capital were notified via SMS for debts for garbage removal amounting to about 2.3 billion soums. Subscribers who have not repaid their debt within five days of receiving notification have been temporarily restricted from paying for electricity.

Currently, the total accounts receivable in Tashkent exceed 582 million soums. It is reported that the restriction is lifted immediately after the debt is fully repaid. This procedure does not apply to debts formed before June 30, 2025.

As a reminder, Tashkent residents were fined billions of soums for improperly dumping. Also, specialists were able to clean the capital’s water bodies of 315 tons of waste from the population and enterprises.

Earlier, more than a thousand citizens in Uzbekistan complained about poor waste removal. Responsible organizations violated the waste collection schedule while demanding payment from citizens.
