Rare Madagascar lemurs were found at the poultry market in Tashkent — video
The animals were put up for sale in cramped cages without feed.

At the poultry market in Tashkent, the sale of lemurs — rare animals under international protection — was noticed. Responsible authorities have not yet commented on the incident.
According to reports, rare animals were found at the poultry market on Karakamysh Street. Lemurs were kept in cramped cells. It is reported that these are rare and endangered animals, many of whose species are under international protection. Their sale and maintenance are prohibited by law.
Previously, the same market had sold proteins that sat in small cages and trembled with fear. This indicates cruelty to animals and ongoing illegal trade in wildlife. The cell in which the lemur is kept is also very small, and the animal is not provided with feed, — the report said.
Environmentalists, animal rights activists, and concerned citizens are demanding an end to such illegal trade and regular monitoring by responsible authorities. There are no official comments on the incident yet.
Recall that law enforcement officers fined dozens of Uzbek citizens for cruelty to animals. Some citizens were also sentenced to administrative detention.
